Scots singer breaks record held for half a century

The Beatles have been tipped off their record holding post by Scottish artist Emile Sandé.

Emile has spent the most consecutive weeks in the top 10 for her album- Our Version of Events.

Released in February 2012 the 26-year-old star from Aberdeenshire spent 63 weeks in the chart and is currently sitting at number five.

Selling 1.82 million copies Emile has taken over the famous four from Liverpool’s record of 62 weeks for the album Please Please Me which they held the record for fifty years.

Our Version of Events has also gone platinum in France, Germany, Ireland and Belgium.

Next To Me – a hit from the album was also the third most played pop song of 2012.
