Sir Frank William’s daughter Claire has been announced as the deputy team principal for William’s.
This will make her the second women in Formula 1 to take on a management role, with Monisha Kaltenborn being promoted to Sauber team principal back in October.
The 36-year-old will keep her role as marketing and communications director alongside her new title.
The British based team said the decision was made prior to the 2013 season, but its announcement had been postponed after the death of Claire’s mother Ginny.
She’s expressed her determination to see the William’s team back at the top.
She said: “I have grown up in the sport and have learnt the ropes from one of Formula 1’s legendary team principals. As a result I feel well equipped for this new challenge.
“I understand the commitment that every person within the team gives each day to see our car out on the track and I am determined to see us back at the top.”
