Title-chasing Glasgow are away to Newport who are currently second-bottom while Edinburgh are at home to Cardiff in a mid-table clash in Pro12 action.
Edinburgh head coach Michael Bradley, whose contract will not be extended beyond this summer, has named two members of Scotland’s Six Nations squad in his team for tomorrow’s match.
Back-row David Denton and prop Geoff Cross came on as replacements in last week’s win over Italy and they will return to club duty this week.
Bradley has also been boosted by the return of centre Nick de Luca who will return earlier than expected from injury.
He said: “Our position in the league (ninth) puts a finer point on the need for us to perform well and win this match at home.
“We have some key players back with us from injury and from the Scotland camp, which will undoubtedly help our efforts to relive the success we enjoyed over Cardiff at the beginning of the season.
Glasgow Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend has given on-loan centre Mark Bennett his first start since arriving from French club Clermont Auvergne.
Bennett starred in Scotland under-20s win over Italy last week and has been rewarded with a start against Newport.
Townsend said he was “looking forward to him having a similar impact on Friday night”.
He said: “I’ve been impressed by his attitude since he got here and he knows it was simply a case of him working hard to improve in every training session and earn his starting place.
“I’ve watched him closely at training and when playing for Stirling County and I believe he is in top form.
“Mark rightly got the plaudits for his Scotland Under-20 performance last week.”
