Students are famed for having a small food budget, and opting to save cash by buying value meals.
However, with traces of horse DNA being found in Tesco Value burgers, students are now questioning they will continue to buy cheap meats.
The large majority of students questioned at Glasgow Caledonian University stated that this week’s horse revelations were enough to put them off Value meals for good. One student said:“I really wouldn’t buy the Value burgers now that I know what is in them.”
Another said: “I suppose you get what you pay for with Value meals. I would only ever buy them if I was really short on cash that week.”
Not all students have been put off the cheaper options though, as one said: “It wouldn’t make any difference to me. I would probably still buy the Value products – I eat anything!”
